Teen sought in city stabbing
Butler police are seeking a teenager who allegedly stabbed another man in the face with a knife during an altercation Tuesday morning at a city home.
Donald W. Reese, 19, of Butler is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said they planned to obtain a felony arrest warrant for the suspect this morning.
The alleged victim, 38-year-old Bryan McFadden of Butler, required several stitches to close the wound, authorities said.
McFadden called 911 at 10:48 a.m. to report being stabbed in the eye. Police got there and found him on the porch holding a blood-stained dish rag to his eye, according to court documents.
He told officers that moments earlier he had gotten into an argument with Reese, who approached him on the street. The defendant then “stepped forward” while holding a knife in his right hand.
“Reese then punched McFadden in the left eye with the knife in his hand,” documents said.
The knife struck the victim in the face, cutting him under the left eyebrow. McFadden recounted that he did not see the knife when the suspect threw the punch.
Reese fled the scene and was last seen headed toward Mackey Avenue.
McFadden was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, said police Deputy Chief David Adam, where he received several stitches.
Adam said police did not immediately know what prompted the altercation.
