Lela R. McKean Wolford

Lela R. McKean Wolford, 99, of Madison, N.C., and a longtime resident of Evans City, passed away peacefully Saturday at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

Born June 16, 1917, in Cherry Township, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elsie Morrison McKean.

Lela was a longtime member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Evans City before moving to be with her daughter in Madison, N.C. She was a former resident of President's Square in Evans City, where she lived in an apartment beside her twin sister, Lila. She was a former member of the Evans City Fireman's Auxiliary. Lela enjoyed playing bingo and going to the Evans City Senior Center.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Donna Ter Linden, and her husband, John, of Madison, N.C.; her son, Robert Wolford and his wife, Nancy, of Morgan Hill, Calif.; her sister, Earla Bailey of Punta Gorda, Fla.; her grandchildren, Pam, Paula, Shelley, DeeAnn and Connie; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wolford; a son, Mark Wolford; a granddaughter, Tracy Wolford; three sisters and a brother.

WOLFORD — Friends of Lela R. McKean Wolford, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev. Thomas Harmon, pastor, officiating.A funeral ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Lela will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O.
