John Charles McGill

John Charles McGill, 54, of Grove City, Liberty Township, Mercer County, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Friday at Select Specialty in Pittsburgh.

John was born Jan. 10, 1962, in Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Fla., to Edward V. McGill and Jean Lucille Kelly McGill. He married Susan Marie Boyd Aug. 10, 1985. He had been employed at Guardian Photo and was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1980.

John was a life member of the Slippery Rock Fire Department. He enjoyed the Slippery Rock community and his family at the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was a huge newspaper reader and always knew the news. He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Survivors include his wife Susan at home; and one brother, William McGill of Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

MCGILL — Friends of John Charles McGill, who died Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Doug Turner, pastor of the Highland Presbyterian Church, presiding. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (New Building Fund), P.O. Box 117, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
