Betty Lou Gee

Betty Lou Gee, 89, of Zelienople passed away Sunday while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community.

Born April 20, 1927, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Harry Carlson and Florence Miller.

Betty Lou was a faithful member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, where she served as deacon, elder and clerk of session. She belonged to the Morning Circle at church and the Presbyterian Women's Association. Betty Lou was employed for 18 years at the J.C. Penney Regional Accounting office in Mount Lebanon, Pa., and retired from Country Clothing in Zelienople after 14 years. She participated in several organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star 485 of Zelienople, Wimodausis Chapter in New Castle, AARP in Ellwood City, Keen-Agers in Portersville, Kiwanis of Zelienople-Harmony and the Senior Center of Cranberry Township. She was also an avid volunteer in the Zelienople community.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 67 years, Robert E. Gee, who she married on June 11, 1949; her children, Phyllis (Alan) Victor of Raleigh, N.C., and Patricia (Thomas) Godsen of Fombell, Pa.; her grandchildren, Todd and Lynda Victor and Brian and Robert “Rob” Godsen; her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Lucas, Sabrina, Joseph, Anna, Trent and Tyler; and her stepbrother, Robert Hart of Hackettstown, N.J.

In addition to her parents, Betty Lou was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kathleen, and her stepmother, Esther Hart Carlson.

GEE — The family of Betty Lou Gee, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish officiating.Betty Lou will be laid to rest at Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.If desired, memorial donations may be made in her honor to Calvin Presbyterian Church or the Benevolent Care Fund of Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
