Butler High School teacher Mike Menchyk, whose beard has been growing since 2015, created the “Save It or Shave It?” fundraiser to benefit the Butler Health System’s Caring Angels program. For three weeks, people contributed to the “Save It” or “Shave It” funds. The “Shave It” fund collected the most money, so Menchyk shaved his beard at an assembly at the school. The event raised $12,367.50. The Caring Angels program helps to provide emergency room care to children whose parents or guardians do not have insurance or the resources to pay, and helps families and children in need through educational, therapeutic and support services at Butler Health System Family Services.SUBMITTED PHOTO
