Luke D. Slye

Luke D. Slye, Jackson Center, passed away Friday morning at his mother's home in Sandy Lake. He was 20 years old.

Born Sept. 12, 1996, in Titusville, he was son of Dale L. and Belva J. Proper Slye.

Luke attended both Lakeview and Meadville high schools. When in high school he was a percussionist in the band.

He was currently working for Minor Acres Packing, Worth Township, Jackson Center.

Luke was a member of the New Lebanon Community Church and was active with the youth group.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved working on the farm and being outdoors.

Luke was always known for his good sense of humor and for the sparkle in his eye. He was loved and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Belva Anderson, and her husband, Erik, of Sandy Lake; his father, Dale Slye, and his wife, Mary, of Meadville; two sisters, Katelin Slye and her fiancé, Ben Horning, of Grove City and Emma Slye of Meadville; two brothers, Austin Slye and his fiancée, Megan Jamison, of Sandy Lake and Joseph Slye of Meadville; a stepsister, Kayla Anderson, and her fiancé, Alexander Rosenthal, of Chicago; maternal grandmother, Susan Matthews, Timmonsville, S.C.; paternal grandparents, Douglas and Katherine Slye of Corry, Pa.; maternal great-grandmother, Bettie Ritchie of Titusville, Pa.; and two nieces, Myah Urey and Lyla Slye, both of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather James Proper; maternal great-grandparents Gerald and Alice Kinnear and Frederick Proper; and paternal great-grandparents Archie and Noreen Willis and Victor and Lillian Slye.

SLYE — Calling hours for Luke D. Slye, who died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Sandy Lake Funeral Home of Scott A. Black, 3236 S. Main St. Sandy Lake, Pa.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday in the New Lebanon Community Church, 4166 Mercer St., Sandy Lake, with the Rev. Virginia LaVan Gadsby, officiating.Interment and Committal Service will be at Union Home Cemetery, Wolf Creek Township, Grove City, Pa.Memorial contributions may be made in Luke's memory to the Lakeview High School Band, 2482 Mercer Street, Stoneboro, PA 16153.
