‘Godfather of Grass’ arrested in CanadaLOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities say a man known as the “Godfather of Grass” has been arrested in Canada after eight years on the run.The U.S. Marshals Service says authorities sought John Robert “Johnny” Boone after they seized 2,400 marijuana plants on his Kentucky farm. The agency said he was arrested Thursday when information led authorities to a small town outside of Montreal.Boone, who is about 73, spent more than a decade in federal prison after being convicted in the 1980s in what prosecutors called the “largest domestic marijuana syndicate in American history.” They said he had 29 farms in nine states.Boone is awaiting extradition to the U.S.

Card holders to have Trump’s imageWASHINGTON — Washington’s subway system is now working with President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee to produce a commemorative sleeve to hold Inauguration Day fare cards.Metro revealed on Wednesday that the special Inauguration Day passes won’t have Trump’s picture on them, the way the cards honoring President Barack Obama’s did. Metro officials said they reached out to Trump’s campaign for a photo but didn’t hear back.A spokesman for Trump’s inaugural committee tweeted Thursday that Metro is working on a commemorative sleeve that will include Trump’s image. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says Metro officials got in touch with the committee on Thursday. He says the card holder would be similar to what the transit agency produced for the 2015 visit of Pope Francis.

Man in road rage killing arrestedLITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Authorities say a man suspected of fatally shooting a 3-year-old boy in a road rage incident in Little Rock has been arrested.The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Harris said late Thursday that the man had been arrested.Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola told ABC News that a family member had turned in the suspect.Police say Acen King was being taken on a shopping trip by his grandmother on Dec. 17 when a driver opened fire on the grandmother’s car because he thought she “wasn’t moving fast enough at a stop sign.”The grandmother, who wasn’t struck, drove away and called police from a shopping center. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died shortly after.

Stolen heirlooms returned to ownerAKRON, Ohio — An Ohio man has been reunited with family heirlooms that he feared were lost when thieves swiped several packages from the porch of his Akron home last week.Kyle Barron says the thieves must have thought the boxes were Christmas presents, but they actually were precious family mementos that he had shipped from Oregon following his mother’s recent death.The contents of the packages included Barron’s father’s ashes, family photographs and a paperweight that held deep sentimental value among other items.After reading about the theft, one of Barron’s neighbors on Thursday went to inspect footprints that he had noticed in the snow in front of a vacant home across the street.There in the snow, John Shepherd found the packages, which he returned to his grateful next-door neighbor.
