Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., hosts the Silvester New Year’s Eve celebration from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31, welcoming the new year on German time in recognition of the community’s heritage. Activities include a 5K and 1-mile races, museum tours, pork and sauerkraut dinner, and comedic short film “Dinner for One,” capped by a ball drop and fireworks.

National Aviary, 700 Arch St., presents the Wings in Winter holiday show between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. daily through Jan. 2. Tickets for the show are $5 in addition to general admission of $14 for adults and $13 for senior citizens and children 2 to 12. The aviary is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except it will be closed the days of Christmas Eve and Christmas. Visit www.aviary.org.
Children’s Museum, Allegheny Square, hosts “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit” through Jan. 17. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The museum will be closed Christmas Day. Admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children 2 to 18 and senior citizens. Visit www.pittsburghkids.org.
Carnegie Science Center, North Side, is showing the Miniature Railroad & Village. Admission is $18.95 for adults and $11.95 for children 3 to 12.
