Howard R. Cornibe Sr.
Howard R. Cornibe Sr., 92, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Middlesex Township, passed away Wednesday at Lady Lake Specialty Care in The Villages, Fla., after a short illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1924, in Butler, he was the son of the late George and Louise Tiha Cornibe.
Howard was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1942. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He retired in 1984 after 35 years with AT&T.
He was a member of Holy Sepulcher Church and the Knights of Columbus there. He also had been a volunteer for South Butler Community Meals on Wheels.
He enjoyed golf, reading, travel, dancing with his wife and following sports. He was a longtime birder.
Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marianne Schuchman, who he married on May 24, 1950; and by his parents and sisters, Doris Sweeney and Marion Wallon.
Surviving are his children, Jean (Jim) Reynolds of Sterling, Va., Janet (Ernie) Yockey of The Villages, Fla., Howard Cornibe Jr. of Estero, Fla., and Jayne (Joseph) Pinchbeck of Seneca, S.C.; three granddaughters, Brooke (Neely) Reynolds of Redwood City, Calif., Sara (Ben) Koch of Pittsburgh and Susan Reynolds of Reston, Va.; a great-grandson, Elliot Reynolds Norris of Redwood City, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
CORNIBE — There will be no visitation for Howard R. Cornibe Sr., who died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, 6515 Old Route 8 North, Butler, with the Rev. Robert Cedolia, pastor, officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Glade Run Cemetery, Middlesex Township.
Memorials may be made to South Butler Community Meals on Wheels.
