PENN TWP — A township man is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl over two years.

State police Tuesday night arrested Matthew S. Parker, 37, at a hotel in Mercer County. He was nabbed just hours after District Judge Sue Haggerty issued Penn Township police a warrant for his arrest.

Parker, who works for a computer software business, is being held in the Butler County Prison on $200,000 bail.

In addition to two counts of rape, he is charged with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and child endangerment, all felonies.

He also faces three counts of indecent assault, a misdemeanor.

Penn Township Patrolman Alyssa Mathews said police began an investigation Nov. 4 based on a referral from ChildLine, the state’s abuse-reporting hot line.

A forensic interviewer on Nov. 7 spoke to the teenager, who recounted what happened in Penn Township. She said the abuse began in 2014 when she was 14 years old.

She said when Parker started fondling her, she pushed him away and told him to stop, according to court documents. But he continued his advances and forced himself on her, despite her objections.

He allegedly molested the teen until September of this year, when he raped her twice, documents said. She said he repeatedly abused her until Nov. 4.

The sexual assaults, however, did not just occur in the township. The teen told investigators that Parker fondled her at a Mercer County campground and during a trip to Florida this year.

Mathews, the lead investigator, on Wednesday said the defendant used “psychological force” on the girl to keep her from telling anyone for so long.

A preliminary hearing for Parker is set for Jan. 4 at Haggerty’s office in Saxonburg. Parker’s attorney, Leland Clark, declined to comment Wednesday.
