Butler police are working to figure out who blasted a parked car with bullets late Monday night.

The Ford Fusion was at the owner’s home on Orchard Avenue shortly before midnight when it was shot up, said police Deputy Chief David Adam.

Police believe the car was hit at least three times. No one was injured.

“There are no suspects,” Adam said, “but we’re investigating.”

Two different neighbors called 911 to report hearing three gunshots. One of the callers described the gunfire as being in “rapid succession.”

The husband of one caller ran outside and saw three males running toward Charles Street, said Adam. The witness was unable to provide police with a description of the males or their clothing.

The car’s owner, a 44-year-old woman, later told officers that she, too, heard gunshots but “did not feel the need to call police,” according to a police report.

She said she looked outside but did not see anything.

Officers inspected the car and found bullet holes in the rear window and both side windows. Police recovered one spent casing in front of the owner’s house and a slug inside the car.

Adam said the casing and slug appear to be from .45-caliber or larger ammunition.
