MIDDLESEX TWP — A couple landed in trouble with the law after they allegedly attacked one another during a domestic dispute on Route 228 east.

Middlesex Township police admitted the weekend altercation was a case of “he said, she said.”

The alleged combatants — Brandon Lee Russell, 26, of Butler and Krista L. Volle, 35, of Clinton Township — both were injured.

Both also are charged with simple assault and harassment.

The incident began about 9 a.m. Sunday while Volle was driving a car and Russell, her then live-in boyfriend, was riding in the front passenger seat. The couple began to argue.

Russell told police that Volle punched him and after stopping the car, pushed him out of the vehicle. She said he shoved her head against the side window and jumped out of the car, according to Middlesex Patrolman Bryan Costanzo.

When Volle got out, she recounted, Russell grabbed her and knocked her down. He said she slipped and fell.

At some point, she said, he jumped on the vehicle. He said she hit him with the car.

Volle eventually drove off, leaving Russell behind. Costanzo said she drove back to her home and never called 911. Russell called 911 on his cell phone. Police found him at the end of a driveway on Route 228 east.

---- Police later found Volle at home. She gave the investigating officer a statement before an ambulance was called and took her to UPMC St. Margaret hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injures in the alleged assault.

---- She had scratches on her arm, the officer noted. Russell had welts on his face and a bruised thigh. Costanzo described all the injuries as “minor.”
