August H. Walsh
August H. Walsh, 88, of Mars, passed away Tuesday.
Born Aug. 11, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Lawrence and Catherine Meister Walsh.
Gus proudly served our country during the Korean War. He owned and operated Gus Auto for more than 25 years. After 38 years of service, Gus retired from Glenshaw Glass and went on to work with Walsh and Knox Excavating. He was a member of the Mars Rod and Gun Club and found joy in working in his garage. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Melanie Walsh of Carlisle, Coleen (Chuck) Herrmann of Zelienople and Joy (John) Knox of Evans City; his sons, August “Chip” H. (Rose) Walsh and Keith N. Walsh, both of Mars; his grandchildren, Tabitha (Josh), Shannon (B.J.), Chipper (Danielle), Travis, Nicole (Mike), Tyler, Nicholas, Keithy and Zac (Steph); his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Leland, Kolton, Kylee, Cheyenne, Carter, Gavin, Avery, Kaiden, Madox, Gracie and Wyatt; his brother, Albert “Butch” (Bunny) of North Hills; his sister, Rose Williams of Millvale; and his sister-in-law, Sandra Pollitt of Greenville.
In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne F. Curley Walsh, who died July 19, 2011, after 50 years of marriage; and two brothers, Larry and Jack Walsh.
WALSH — The family of August H. Walsh, who died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, will welcome friends from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Gus will be laid to rest with military honors at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.The family suggests memorial donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste.
