Leatrice A. Gravatt

Leatrice A. Gravatt, 90, of New Castle passed away Monday at Avalon Nursing Center.

Born April 25, 1926, in Evans City, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Emma Wimer Burgard.

Leatrice was a member of First Baptist Church of Evans City. She graduated from Evans City High School in 1944 and, following graduation, worked for the FBI. Leatrice also worked for Mine Safety Appliance from February of 1967 until the time of her retirement in June of 1992.

An avid traveler, she traveled the world and managed to visit every state but Hawaii. Leatrice supported her church and its mission work wholeheartedly. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Deborah DeCann of Butler; her grandchild, Heather (Joe) King of Valencia; her great-grandchildren, Braedyn Kane, Lily King, William King and Owen King; her brothers, Richard (Frances) Burgard of Evans City, David (Charlotte) Burgard of Evans City and Leo (Linda) Burgard of Tulsa, Okla.; her sisters, Eileen Best of New Castle and Caroline (Carl) Young of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Leatrice was preceded in death by her brother, George Burgard; and her sister, Emily Springer.

GRAVATT — The family of Leatrice A. Gravatt, who died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, will welcome friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Leatrice will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
