Joy Ritson May
Joy Ritson May, 83, of Butler passed away Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
She was born June 8, 1933, in Butler, to the late Albert Ritson and the late Vera Buck Ritson.
Joy
was the co-owner of May's Music Shoppe in Butler for more than 40 years. She and her husband Dick were the second-generation owners of the shoppe. Joy was a founding member of the Musical Theatre Guild of Butler. She had a very strong Christian faith and was formerly very active with musical groups, hand bell groups and church choirs.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne and Doug Lefever; her four sons, David May, Charlie May and Susie Crede, Paul and Angie May, and Josh and Tammy May; 11 grandchildren, Emily and Mike Powell, Becky and Tate Pacek, Molly and John Anglum, Cory and Alisha Lefever, Paul May II, Carleigh May, Jacob May, Grant May, Mitchell May, Carrie Zang and Jason Zang; eight great-grandchildren and one more arriving any day; one brother, Harry Ritson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” May, who she married on Feb. 14, 1953, and who passed away on Jan. 12, 2009; her son, Norman May, who passed away on July 28, 2016; her brother, Albert Ritson, and her sister, Phyllis Pulleyn.
MAY — A memorial visitation for Joy Ritson May, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
