SRU women slip to .500
The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team dropped a pair of games over the weekend at the Ashland Thanksgiving Classic.
The Rock fell 99-67 to host Ashland Saturday and 68-63 to Hillsdale Sunday.
Lexi Carpenter scored 13 points to pace SRU in the loss to Ashland, which came into the game as the No. 3-ranked team in the nation in Division II.
Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson made her first collegiate start and added 10 points, three rebounds and three steals. She was 3-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
In Sunday's loss to Hillsdale, Carpenter led The Rock (3-3) with 18 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Gibson came off the bench to score nine.
