Mildred E. Heldman

Mildred E. Heldman of Warren, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday following a short illness.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Elva Thompson Heldman. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ina (Fred) Kopp and Anna (Walter) Bauer; and brother, William Heldman.

She is survived by her brother, David M. Heldman of Lower Burrell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Millville and moved with her parents to O'Hara Township. Mildred attended Kerr School and graduated from Etna High School. She was a talented musician and played the tenor saxophone in the band and orchestra.

Mildred was one of the original choir members for Kathryn Kuhlman Ministries and also taught Sunday school. She supported the ministries for more than 30 years.

She worked for the Pittsburgh Press until it merged with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

She moved to Phoenix to work for Tompkins Ministries. She was ordained as a minister in 1990 through the Gospel Ministries. Upon retirement, she moved to Ohio to be close to her family. Mildred was invited to many areas as a guest speaker. She was a director of Pittsburgh Women's Aglow Christian Fellowship in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Youngstown, Ohio.

Mildred was very fond of her nieces, Irene K. Heldman, M.D., Donna E. Heldman and Meredith S. (Kirk) Heavner; and her great-nephew, Alexander P. Heavner, all of Mars. She followed Alexander's athletic activities in baseball, football and basketball.

Mildred was a kind and caring person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

HELDMAN — Friends of Mildred E. Heldman, who died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday by her niece, the Rev.
