Rita H. Michel

Rita H. Michel, 91, of Butler, passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Horning, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Elmer J. and Stella End Lunn.

She was a homemaker.

Before her marriage, she was a welder in Butler during World War II, and she later worked at Peggy Lou Bakery in Butler.

Rita was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, where she was active in the Christian Mothers Guild.

She is survived by six children, Albert, John, Marlene Fisher and her husband, Robert, Mary Konyha and her husband, Bill, David and his wife, Linda, and Marge Paglia and her husband, Dale, all of Butler; and one sister, Virginia “Suze” Kramer of Saxonburg.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert A. Michel, who passed away Nov. 2, 1990; four sisters and one brother.

MICHEL — Friends of Rita H. Michel, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, with Friar Gary Stakem, OFM Cap., officiating.

Burial will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16002.
