Charles F. Sobot

Charles F. Sobot, 92, of Saxonburg, went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday.

Charles was born in Rembrandt, Manitoba, Canada, on July 31, 1924, one of 10 children born to Marian and Mary (Straus) Sobot. As a young man, he played defense for the Winnipeg Jets farm team. Later, he worked for J. Arthur Rank Film Studios in Toronto as an accountant, where he met his beloved wife.

Later, Charles moved to Philadelphia, Pa., and was financial vice president of Dixon Valve and Coupling Company. He relocated to Chestertown, Md., with the company and later retired.

Charles was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and travel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Diane (Tesarek) Sobot; one son, Thomas (Kendra) Sobot of Saxonburg; one grandson, Ross Sobot of Saxonburg; two sisters, Isabel Spearman of Manitoba and Vickie Kordiuk of Lakeland, Fla.; nephews, Alan (Jan) Rushforth of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Raymond Rushforth of New Ringgold, Pa.; his niece, Wendy Rushforth of Havertown, Pa., and many more in the United States and Canada.

SOBOT — At the request of Charles F. Sobot, who passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, there will be no visitation or services.

Memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.

Fox Funeral Home in Saxonburg was entrusted with arrangements.
