SRU basketball splits at Kutztown
Led by 22 points, nine rebounds and nine assists from senior guard Lexi Carpenter, Slippery Rock University's women's basketball team earned a 72-65 victory over host Kutztown on Sunday.
The Golden Bears held a 50-47 lead after three quarters, but SRU used a 25-15 run in the final period to pull away.
The Rock (3-1, 1-1) also received 14 points and a team-leading 12 boards from Mallory Heinle and 13 points courtesy of Morgan Henderson.
The result gave SRU a split over the weekend as it dropped a 94-58 decision at Shippensburg on Saturday.
Carpenter and Sierra Fordham both paced The Rock with 11 points.

SRU lost a pair of games over the weekend, 68-48 at Shippensburg on Saturday and an 88-69 setback at Kutztown on Sunday.
Naquil Jones scored a team-high 19 points against the Golden Bears and Merdic Green added 14.
Against Shippensburg, SRU (2-3, 0-2) committed 17 turnovers. Green led the offense with 16 points.
