A pair of drug felons were caught with a loaded handgun under a pillow on a bed at a Butler home, authorities said.

Charged with felons not to possess firearms are Carrie J. Cubbage, 30, of Butler, and Lamont A. Franklin, 27, no known address. Cubbage also is charged with a misdemeanor count os possession of drug paraphernalia,

Police were called shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to Cubbage’s home in the 3000 block of North McKean Street where state parole agents had gone for a house check, according to court documents.

The agents found her upstairs in bed with Franklin. A search turned up 15 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and three used syringes in the closet and on a dresser in the bedroom.

Under a pillow on the bed, documents said, was a .22-caliber revolver loaded with nine rounds.

Cubbage admitted the drug paraphernalia was hers, police said, but she denied knowing anything about the gun.

Police arrested Cubbage, who has three felony drug convictions, documents said. She was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. She also is being held on a parole violation.

Police later checked Franklin’s criminal record and learned that he has one prior felony drug conviction.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Franklin, who was released after the parole agents found him with Cubbage.
