LANCASTER TWP — Although the investigation of a township police officer is continuing, more details have surfaced.

A right-to-know request by The Butler Eagle shows that David Sitler is no longer employed at the township police station.

Sitler, who has employed by the township for nearly 20 years and acted as the officer in charge, is under criminal investigation, according to District Attorney Rich Goldinger and Trooper Dan Kesten.

“Your termination is a result of your neglect, violation of an official duty, intemperance and conduct unbecoming an officer,” states the township’s termination notice to Sitler dated Oct. 28.

The alleged incident took place on Oct. 6, according to the township’s termination letter.

Details of the incident were not given due to the investigation being open.

The incident is being investigated by the state police after the matter was brought to the District Attorney’s Office.
