Edward F. Grecco

Edward F. Grecco, 86, of Butler, passed away Wednesday at Paramount Senior Living in Seven Fields.

Born in Butler on Jan. 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Cosimo and Mary Seroskie Grecco.

On Feb. 3, 1951, Ed married the love of his life, Joanne Liebler Grecco, who after 65 years of marriage preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2016.

Ed was retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, where he was employed as a registered civil engineer for 28 years. Formerly, he was also employed at Chicago Bridge and Iron Works in Greenville, Pa., for five years.

He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1957 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.

Ed was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, the Knights of Columbus in Greenville, Pa., VFW Post 249 in Butler, the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, the Esquire Club, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Railway Engineering Association, and was a life member of Elks Lodge 170 of Butler.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Grecco and his wife, Beth, of Butler, and James M. Grecco and his wife, Sandy of Norfolk, Va.; one daughter, Barbara J. Grecco and her companion, Wayne Pollock, of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Samuel Grecco, and his wife, Gerri, of Florida, and Carl Grecco, of Butler

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Anthony and Matthew Grecco, of Norfolk, Va.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife; his parents and three brothers, William Grecco, John Grecco and Joseph Grecco.

Grecco, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Edward's nephew and godson, Rev.
