Moniteau names assistant principal for high school

CHERRY TWP — Aubrie Schnelle will be the new assistant principal for Moniteau Junior Senior High School. The Moniteau School Board voted on Schnelle's appointment on Monday night.

She has been the assistant principal at Franklin Area High School in Franklin for the past year. She also was the guidance counselor at Rocky Grove High School in Franklin for seven years.

Lance Fox, high school principal, said the district received many applications for the position.

“Her credentials are very good,” Fox said. “She has a lot of knowledge of the inner workings of a school.”

Schnelle received a master's degree from Slippery Rock University and a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College. She received her administrative certificate from Edinboro University. She is a graduate of Moniteau High School.

“I wanted to give back to my community,” Schnelle said.

“She has a genuine care for the school system,” Fox said.

Schnelle will start at Moniteau in early December.

The school board accepted Todd Amsler's resignation as assistant high school principal at their meeting on Oct. 24. Amsler served in the role for three years.

“(Schnelle is) an extremely capable administrator,” said Dustin Thompson, principal of Dassa McKinney Elementary School. “She'll make wonderful contributions to our Moniteau School Community.”

The Seneca Valley School Board also voted to hire a new assistant principal for the Intermediate High School Monday night. Erin Mazer replaces Jessica Kotula, who recently resigned for personal reasons. The school has grades 9 and 10. Mazer was the assistant principal for Benjamin Banneker Middle School in Burtonsville, Md. She has 12 years experience as a teacher and administrator with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.
