Leonard “Butch” E. Eakin

Leonard “Butch” E. Eakin, 73, of Petrolia passed away suddenly Monday morning.

Born May 15, 1943, in Bradford, Pa., he was the son of the late Leonard P. and Gertrude Nesnick Eakin. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1962.

Following high school, Butch was an owner and operator for more than 33 years with Transport Services out of Parker in which Butch accumulated more than 1,200,000 miles driving the “Mayflower.”

Butch was a social member of VFW Post 7073 and the American Legion in Bradys Bend. He also was a member of Masonic Canby Lodge 520 of St. Petersburg and the Consistory of Coudersport.

Butch was an avid NASCAR fan and had a passion for fishing. He especially enjoyed taking numerous fishing trips to Canada.

He married Connie J. Swatsler Eakin Aug. 26, 1961; she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Sheila Eakin and her companion, Gerry Bisson, of Parker and Erin (Ed) Dunlap of Parker; his son, Jeffrey (Deborah) Eakin of Parker; two sisters, Audrey Irons of Colorado and Sandra (George) Lindy of Bradford, Pa.; one brother, Robert (Kay) Eakin of Lewis Run, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Terry (Donna) Swatsler of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

EAKIN — Friends of Leonard “Butch” E. Eakin, who died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne St., Parker.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
