Ellen King will present “Go with the Flow” about her collection of flow blue china for a Maridon Museum program Nov. 17.
China subject of next 'Collectors' series talk

Ellen King of Hilliards will present “Go with the Flow” on Nov. 17 as part of “The Collectors” series at the Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St.

The long-time antiques dealer began her love of the blue-patterned china more than 45 years ago and it has become a lifelong obsession.

Flow blue is a term given to the form of china, made primarily in England, beginning in 1840, in which the color “flows” or blurs.

King is active in the International Flow Blue Collectors Club and has served as its president and historian, and she is on its educational committee.

The program will feature history and facts.

“It's an honor to have someone with Mrs. King's expertise presenting at the Maridon,” said Nancy Hile, manager of art and exhibits.

“'The Collectors' series has been popular, and we plan to continue these programs.”

King also presented in the last season of “The Collectors,” talking about and showing some pieces from her doll collection.

Admission to the program is free, but reservations are required. Call the museum at 724-282-0123.

More installments in “The Collectors” series will be scheduled in the new year.
