BUTLER TWP — Imagine seeing a full envelope's worth of cash flying loose on New Castle Road.

At least a half dozen motorists did just that Monday morning.

Police were alerted around 10:30 a.m. when a half dozen vehicles stopped on the busy highway, and tried to catch the cash.

The bills, according to police, were a “significant amount” of money found with the envelope and a damaged cellular telephone in the 200 block between Hawkins Insurance and Looney Toones Bar.

Most of the passersby presented the cash to a police officer to be returned to the owner. However, investigators would like to speak to a white male driver of a maroon SUV who witnesses reported seeing picking up money.

According to Butler Township Police, the owner of the envelope has been identified, but not interviewed.
