Motorist shears gas meter near polling place
SARVER — A voter driving to Sarver Volunteer Fire Company's station on Elliot Road Tuesday morning sheared off a gas meter near the voting precinct, but the incident did not cause any evacuation or injuries.
Assistant Chief Mike George said accident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. He arrived on scene minutes later and was able to plug the leaking gas meter and monitor the area until utility workers arrived to repair the damage.
George said that the gas leak did not result in any evacuation of the station's recreation hall, which is used as one of Buffalo Township's three polling locations during elections.
Emergency dispatchers for Butler County say the accident did not result in any other emergency services being called out to the fire company's station at 110 Elliot Road.
Director of Elections Sherri Brewer was not immediately available for comment.
