George Raymond “Ray” Miller
George Raymond “Ray” Miller, 83, of Butler passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1933, in Butler, to the late George Raymond Miller Sr. and the late Virginia Wampler Miller.
Ray was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Butler High School in 1951 before attending Grove City College and earning his associate degree. Ray served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then worked for J.C. Penney in Butler as a senior merchandise manager, before retiring in 1995. Ray was an avid Penn State fan.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys, who he married Nov. 10, 1956; one son, Raymond Alan Miller of Camp Hill, Pa.; one daughter, Cheryl Klabnik and her husband, John, of Butler; two grandsons, Jonathan Klabnik and Thomas Klabnik; two granddaughters, Kelly Klabnik and Madison Miller; one brother, Randall B. Miller of Baton Rouge, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Miller and Richard Miller.
MILLER — Friends of George Raymond “Ray” Miller, who died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.There will be additional visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with services immediately following at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
