Barbara Eldon

Barbara Eldon, 86, of Bentwood Road, Drums, Pa., died Monday evening at Celtic Hospice Inpatient Care Unit at Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Born Jan. 31, 1930, in Dickson City, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Van Duzer Ferguson and was a graduate of Southside High School in Newark, N.J.

Barbara loved caring for and raising her family and grandchildren, and even served as a caregiver to others as well.

Presently, Barbara was a member of the Hill City Church in Hazleton, but over the years, she faithfully served the Lord in many ways in many other churches. Throughout her life, she always found comfort in the verses Isaiah 35:3-10.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, S. Howard Eldon; and her brothers, L. Thomas Ferguson and Mitch Ferguson.

Surviving are her daughters, Rosslyn Stimpel and her husband, Carl, with whom she lived, and Betty Yancey and her husband, William, of Jacksonville, Fla.; her son, Thomas Eldon, and Patrice Dumas of Tampa, Fla.; her grandchildren Ryan Powell, Tracey Powell Gale, Samantha Stimpel DeRosa, Brooke Macuch and CJ Stimpel; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Alice Ferguson of Williamsburg, Va.; three nephews; and one niece.

ELDON — Friends of Barbara Eldon, who died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township Friday evening.A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Burial will follow at the Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's name are welcomed by the family to the Hill City Church, 600 S. Poplar St., Suite 4, Hazleton, PA 18201.The Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home of Drums, Pa., also is assisting the family with arrangements.Condolence messages may be entered in the family's online memorial guest book on the funeral home website at www.khfuneralhomes.com.
