Vineyard holds grand opening at Walmart
Wine will be coming to the Butler Walmart.
Starr Hill Vineyard and Winery, based in Curwensville, Clearfield County, will hold a ribbon cutting event inside the Butler Walmart at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Starr Hill approached Walmart several years ago, and in 2012 it was approved by the state of Pennsylvania to open a maximum of five retail stores. In addition to the Butler store, other Walmart locations include Altoona, Clearfield and DuBois.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase our wines in a huge marketplace and to a large number of new customers,” said Ken Starr, owner of Starr Hill Vineyard and Winery. Thousands of people go through the Butler store each month and I couldn’t be more excited to introduce our wines and give customers such a unique shopping experience.”
Starr opened Starr Hill Vineyard and Winery in 2005. Starr Hill is one of the first wineries to be located inside the largest retailer in the United States.
