Ronald Ernest Kelley

Ronald Ernest Kelley, 71, of Slippery Rock, passed away Wednesday.

His name defined who he was. Serious; determined; an “Incredible Hulk” work ethic, with a drill sergeant sense of humor. He strove to make the lives of family and friends prosperous and pleasant. He often exclaimed, “'Can't' never done nuthin.” He felt all things were possible with God's love and truth.

He loved working on the farm and landscaping. He was an avid sports fan: football, horse races, hunting, fishing, trail riding, farm shows and tractor pulls, and car and truck shows. He loved great music, wrestling and action movies.

His favorite pit stops were Red Hots in Ellwood City, the Harmony Moose and the Hungarian Club. He was happiest around the Thanksgiving table with family or at the “Barn,” or garage parties, featuring his sons' live music with all their friends.

Although he developed the ataxia present in his genes, he refused to admit defeat. He would wish for all to do their best and make the world a better place, wanting for all the best of the best, the latest and greatest.

The family is grateful for the care of doctors and staff given by Silver Oaks Nursing Center and Jameson Hospital in New Castle; Orchard Manor in Grove City; Kindred Hospital in Beaver, and Circle of Care and Salem Regional Medical Clinic in Salem, Ohio.

Thank you also for the uplifting spiritual support of the Mercer Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and never-wavering love from family and close friends. May all live on in love.

Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Claudia (Eckstein) Kelley; his sons, Kenneth Edward Kelley, Donald Aaron Kelley and Andrew Shaun Kelley, and his grandson, Quentin S. Kelley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kalle Suzanne Covery-Kelley, and his granddaughter, Aidan Shaye Kelley.
