Pennington joins PIAA cross countryRIDGWAY — Rebecca Pennington of Karns City qualified for the PIAA Class AA cross country meet by placing third in the District 9 girls race Saturday at Ridgway High School.Pennington completed the course in 20 minutes, 22 seconds.

Race fan charged with reckless drivingMARTINSVILLE, Va. — Virginia State Police say they’ve charged a man with reckless driving after a crash injured 22 people in a Martinsville Speedway parking lot after a NASCAR race.Police said in a statement that 65-year-old Gary T. Edem of Fairfax, Va., was released after a magistrate placed him on unsecured bond.Troopers say Edem was driving a Chevrolet when he struck a Jeep and the pedestrians.The incident remains under investigation.
