A man was taken to the hospital Thursday after crashing his car into a parked dump truck on Route 19 in Portersville. He suffered injuries to his face and head according to Portersville Muddy Creek Township assistant Fire Chief Tim Hinkle.

PORTERSVILLE — A man was taken the to the hospital Thursday afternoon after crashing his car into the back of a parked dump truck.

The driver, a male in his 50s, suffered injuries to his face and head from hitting the windshield of his Hyundai Accent around 2:30 p.m., said Portersville Muddy Creek Township assistant Fire Chief Tim Hinkle.

Portersville Muddy Creek Township EMS took the man to Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was driving northbound on Route 19 when he left the road and hit the truck, which was parked on the street. Several witnesses reported seeing the driver swerving around other cars and possibly speeding, Hinkle said.

State police were investigating the cause of the accident.

The truck driver was in the bank across the street and did not see the accident happen. The truck is owned by McClymonds Supply and Transit, which has its headquarters nearby in Muddy Creek Township. A representative of the company said that the truck suffered damage to its suspension and had to be towed.
