Barbara Ellen Giuntoli

Barbara Ellen Giuntoli, 78, of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Butler, passed away Wednesday at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, S.C.

The daughter of the late J. Franklin Douthett and Ellen Lester Douthett, Barbara was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Butler. She graduated from Butler High School and went on to complete her schooling at the Humboldt Institute, Airline & Business School in Minneapolis, Minn.

Upon graduation, she relocated to Washington, D.C., where she accepted a position with Capital Airlines on the staff of Jennings Randolph, the former congressman from West Virginia who, at that time, was an executive of the airline.

Barbara moved back to the Butler area and married her high school sweetheart, James M. Giuntoli. Barbara and Jim were happily married for 55 years.

In Butler, Barbara worked for many years as a paraprofessional for the Butler School District. After retiring from the school district, Barbara and Jim retired to Sun City, S.C., where she was an active golfer and participated in various clubs in her community and church.

Barbara also enjoyed dancing and music, as well as her friends and family, particularly her grandchildren. In Bluffton, Barbara was a member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband, James M. Giuntoli; her son, J. Chris Giuntoli and his wife, Helen, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; her daughter, Lisa M. Giuntoli, of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, Francesca, Luke, Owen and Cal; two sisters, Marilyn Zaccari and Debbie Grossi, both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, David Douthett.

GIUNTOLI — A Mass of Christian burial for Barbara Ellen Giuntoli, who died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.The family will be receiving guests at the church hall with a prepared luncheon immediately following the Mass.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, in honor of Barbara, who is a 50-year breast cancer survivor.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
