John F. Capers Jr.
The Honorable John F. Capers Jr. of Holly Hill, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Sept. 3.
Born in Butler, he moved in 1973 to Daytona Beach, Fla. John retired as lieutenant after 20 years of service with the Daytona Beach Fire Dept.
After his retirement, John was elected as a commissioner in 2014 for the City of Holly Hill, the city he loved and raised his family in.
John loved fishing and turned that into a commercial enterprise, and his love of cars seeded his business, Capers Muscle Cars of Daytona. With a passion for the road he created John Capers Transport.
John is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Christine. They have been together 40 years, from the age of 15. He also is survived by his sons, John III and Christopher; his grandchildren, Mackenzi and Escher; his dog, Sonny; his father, John F. Capers Sr. and Ruth “Mumsy” Capers of Butler; his brother, Joseph Capers; and his sister, Cyndi Capers Stewart.
John is predeceased by his “Mum,” Norma McQueeny; and stepfather, Gary McQueeny.

Capers Jr., who died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, was conducted Friday, Sept. 16, at Basilica of St. Paul, 317 Mullally St., Daytona Beach, Fla.The Capers family is devastated by this untimely passing of such a wonderful man.
