Olav N. Johnson

Olav N. Johnson, 63, of Bridgewater, Pa., formerly of Gibbon, Minn., passed away Tuesday in Bridgewater.

Born April 2, 1953, in Gaylord, Minn., he was the son of the late Lloyd and Victoria Johnson. He was a graduate of Gibbon High School, Waldorf Junior College and Gutavus Aldophus College. He was Presbyterian and a member of Bridgewater Presbyterian Church.

Olav was a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army, Rochester, a long-distance truck driver and was currently employed at Beaver Super.

He will be remembered by those he knew as an extremely giving man who enjoyed sharing stories and laughs.

Olav is survived by his brother, John (Dorothy) Johnson of Minnesota; two stepsons, Michael (Melissa) Davis of Butler and James (Laura) Bailey of Willoughby, Ohio; his nieces, Nancy (Brian) Dahl and Barb Johnson Larson; his nephew, Mark L. (Jennifer); eight stepgrandchildren; six great-nieces; three great-nephews; and his special friends, Michael Davis and James Bailey.

Along with his parents, he also was preceded in death by his good friend, Carl “Jay” Wolfe.

JOHNSON — Friends of Olav N. Johnson, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday at J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave. New Brighton, Pa., with the Rev. Dr. Robert Silvers officiating.Private inurnment will take place later in Minnesota.In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Olav's name to Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, 408 Bridge St. Bridgewater, PA 15009.
