Mary Catherine “Mazie” Curry

Mary Catherine “Mazie” Curry, 92, of Eau Claire, Washington Township, passed away early Wednesday afternoon surrounded by family members, following an extended illness.

Born June 22, 1924, in Herman, Pa., she was the daughter of late McKinley and Mary Kuhn Baptiste.

A longtime United Methodist, she had been attending the Foxburg United Methodist Church as health permitted and enjoyed assisting with church dinners.

She was a former member of OES Chapter 60 of Parker.

Mazie was an intense homemaker working diligently to can jellies and vegetables and was well- known for her preparing a specialty, homemade vegetable soup.

She was married Feb. 9, 1943, to William H. Curry, who died Aug. 27, 2005.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Covert, who lived with and cared for Mazie; two sons and their wives, Robert William and Marilyn Curry of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Ronald and Lorraine Curry of Fort Myers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; two sisters, Clare Mitch of Herman and Dorothy Cypher of Alabama; and two brothers, George Baptiste of Butler and Lawrence Baptiste of West Sunbury.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

CURRY — Friends of Mary Catherine “Mazie” Curry, who died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.
