John P. “Jack” Hunter
John P. “Jack” Hunter, 74, of Cranberry Township, passed away Tuesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born Dec. 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Irwin S. and Isabel M. Yocum Hunter.
Jack was a member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township, where he was an usher for many years. He graduated from St. Mary of the Mount in Pittsburgh in 1960, then proudly served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964, serving aboard the USS Wasp and USS Kitty Hawk, for which he is a plank owner. He also was an avid woodworker and made many crafts and furniture that the family still enjoys today.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, June I. Getz Hunter of Cranberry Township, who he married April 23, 1966; his sons, John J. (Jodie) Hunter of Cranberry Township, Paul A. (Bonnie) Hunter of Ellwood City and Timothy S. (Lori) Hunter of Economy Borough; his daughter, Kristen (Dale “D.J.”) Hunter Green of Grove City; his grandchildren, Ian J. Hunter, John Patrick Hunter, Devon Sidon, Caleb McGraw, Rachel Hunter Palmer, Sean, Chelsea and Madison Hunter, and Emily and Victoria Green; his brother, Joseph (Sherry) Hunter of McCandless Township; and his sisters, Mary Ann (Thomas) Kelly of Cranberry Township and Jean (William) Martin of Murrysville.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia, and a son, Matthew.
HUNTER — Friends of John P. “Jack” Hunter, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. John Gallagher as celebrant.Following Mass, Jack will be laid to rest with full military honors at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Jack's honor to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Jack's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
