The Butler County Youth Leadership Initiative will have a free event for 12- to 17-year-olds from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Butler Catholic School gym, 515 E. Locust St.

It will feature the Dialed Action Sports team, dinner and door prizes.

The event is free, but participants must register by Oct. 21 by calling 724-431-6025.

SUMMIT TWP — Butler County Master Gardeners will welcome garden author and speaker Jan Coppola Bills at their annual fall workshop, “Garden for Life,” from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Herman Fire Hall, 789 Herman Road.

Sharing the stage with Bills will be Phipps horticulturist Katie Schuller and Enon Valley Garlic founder Ron Stidmon. The workshop will feature sessions on sustainability and low-maintenance gardening, edible landscaping and growing garlic.

Bulbs and other gardening items will be available for purchase.
