Penn United adds firm

JEFFERSON TWP — Penn United Technologies has acquired Quala-Die of St. Marys, Elk County.

Penn United is an employee-owned manufacturing company headquartered at 799 N. Pike Road, and employs about 500 workers. Quala-Die, founded in 1978, employs about 95 people.

“This acquisition is part of our growth strategy by a continued diversification of our products and services offered, and our production capabilities and capacity,” said Bill Jones, president of Penn United.

Penn United offers manufacturing services, including tool and die making, metal stamping, carbide and metal assembly, prototyping, precision machining, precision grinding, reel to reel plating, metal finishing services, steel and carbide progressive stamping dies and Parker Majestic grinders.

Penn United will maintain operations at the St. Marys facility, at which Quala-Die has specialized in designing and manufacturing tool and die sets for precision-powdered metal and ceramic components.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
