James E. “Jim” “Spirit Wolf” Beck Jr.

James E. “Jim” “Spirit Wolf” Beck Jr., 79, of Harrisville passed away Tuesday at home.

Jim was born March 27, 1937, in Warren, Ohio, to the late James E. Beck Sr. and Evelyn Wilson.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy for five years and after his service he worked as a psychiatric technician at Warren State Hospital and later as an aide at the Polk Center. He was also employed at many area stores and gas stations.

Jim was very proud and connected to his Native American roots. He was a member of the People of the Forest and was the chief of the Native American Inter-Tribal Village. He was known as a spiritual leader in his community and was referred to as “Spirit Wolf.” He enjoyed going to the Native American powwows and festivals. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and belonged to several motorcycle organizations.

Jim married Bonita “Bonnie” Frey on Aug. 18, 1979, in Allison Park. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, James C. “Jim” Beck and his wife, Chrissy, of Grove City and Shawn O. Reynolds and his wife, Tonya, of Edgewater, Fla.; two daughters, Danielle M. Britton of Slippery Rock and Terinia M. Beck of Davenport, Fla. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, Abraham Beck.

BECK — A memorial service for James E. “Jim” “Spirit Wolf” Beck Jr., who died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N.
