Mary Joanne Kress Towsey

Mary Joanne Kress Towsey, 73, of Zelienople passed away at 9:42 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mary Jo was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, to Harry and Mildred (Potts) Kress and moved in 1943 to Zelienople.

She graduated in 1960 from Zelienople High School. She continued her education at Point Park Junior College Secretarial School.

She worked for Equitable Gas in Pittsburgh from 1961 to 1988.

Mary Jo has been involved in her class reunion work-up since 1975, including making an information book with everyone's names. She was involved in the church music at Park United Presbyterian Church in Zelienople for about 62 years and a member of the first junior choir. Mary Jo was also a member of the bell choir at church, taught Sunday school and was the organist for almost eight years. She played the organ at Camp Run Church in Fombell for 19 years.

In her free time, she loved going camping in the beautiful Allegheny National Forest, sitting on her deck and watching the bears in the back yard. She and her husband, David, had several beautiful adventures together. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Mary Jo leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, David Towsey; her brother, Donald, and sister-in-law, Joanne; her nephew, David, and his wife, Letetia, and their two daughters, Emily and Kati; her niece, Stephanie, and her husband, Aaron, and their three children, Aubree, Wyatt and Hayden.

TOWSEY — The family of Mary Joanne Kress Towsey, who died Monday, July 18, 2016, will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Andrew Shaffer officiating.Funeral arrangements are by Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
