CENTER TWP — Less than two weeks before the final fight of his career Saturday at Kelly Automotive Park, Brian Minto received the news.

He would be facing a new opponent — younger, bigger and more dangerous.

Gyula Bozai of Hungary tore a biceps muscle while working out last week and had to pull out of Saturday’s 10-round cruiserweight main event. He is being replaced by Andras Csomor of Budapest, Hungary.

Bozai is 42 and had been knocked out only once in his career. Csomor is 28 and sports a 17-11-1 record. Fourteen of his 17 wins have come by knockout.

“This guy takes chances,” Minto said. “He goes for knockouts. He’ll leave himself more open to getting hit, too, but, yeah, he’ll be dangerous.

“I’ll be more mobile in the ring than I usually am. I’m not going to stand in front of this guy. I have to respect the power.”

Csomor has won three of his last four fights. His last eight losses have come against foes with a combined record of 160-15. Five of those opponents are undefeated.

Butler’s Minto brings a 41-11 record into the bout.

Minto is down to 199 pounds and did his final sparring session Monday in preparation for the fight. The cruiserweight limit is 200 pounds.

“I’m in the best shape I can possibly be in for being 41,” Minto said. “I’ve trained hard. The guy I’m fighting is bigger and younger. I feel like I’m up for the challenge.”

With the weigh-in slated at 5 p.m. Friday at The Hardwood Cafe, Csomor is not expected to make the cruiserweight limit. His weight was at 213 pounds when he accepted this fight last week.

“I have to allow him to come in over (the limit),” Minto said. “He’s a natural heavyweight. I told him he can weigh in at 206 or so.

“If he weighs in at more than that, I could ask him to run a couple of pounds off, dock him some pay ... I doubt I’ll make a big deal over it. The fight is on regardless.”

The under-card has been announced for the show, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday. Two other pro bouts will take place along with eight amateur bouts.

Three amateur fighters from Butler — Cody Hall, Austin Warman and Clint Bonetti — are on the card. They have been doing some training under Minto.

Tickets for the show are available from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Thursday and from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Kelly Automotive Park. They will also be available at Friday’s weigh-in, which is open to the public.
