CRANBERRY TWP — Traffic on North Boundary Road will be diverted to a temporary bypass road starting late next week.

The township supervisors in April awarded a $1.02 million contract to Thomas Construction of Grove City to build a roundabout at the intersection of North Boundary Road and Marshall Road.

The road will carry traffic a short distance around the site to the north.

Work was briefly stopped this week when the contractor had to leave the site for an unspecified reason, however work has resumed and the township still expects the project to be finished by late October, said Duane McKee, assistant township manager, said.

The roundabout was touted by officials as a safe and efficient alternative to a traffic signal to deal with anticipated increased traffic through the intersection.

The project is being paid for in part by a $286,199 state grant that came from red light enforcement in Philadelphia and also by fees paid by developers of nearby properties.
