During these years, they enjoyed wintering and visiting with friends in The Villages, Florida.

John was an avid golfer, fisherman, loved to travel and took great pride in hearth and home. He was a member of the Kedron Lodge F&AM 389, the West Middlesex and the New Castle Consistory, and was a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Educational Association.
