Police say drugs tossed

A felony drug suspect is accused of throwing narcotics out the passenger window of a vehicle during a traffic stop in Butler.

Michael D. Guy, 33, of Butler was arraigned Wednesday on several charges stemming from last week’s arrest. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 bail.

Butler County Drug Task Force officers about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 1 spotted Guy, who they suspected was dealing drugs that evening, get into the back seat of a car on Fairview Avenue.

A woman was driving the vehicle and another man was in the front passenger seat, authorities said.

One of the officers walked toward the car but before he could get there, the woman drove off, according to court documents.

Another officer in a police car chased after the vehicle, which pulled to the side of Brown Avenue where Guy allegedly tossed 10 stamp bags of heroin and a baggie containing suspected crack cocaine out a rear passenger window.

The woman again pulled away in her car but this time officers were able to block her would-be getaway.

Officers found Guy with $260 in currency and a cell phone. They also learned that he was wanted on a pair of bench warrants for failing to appear at court hearings in Butler County.

County Detective Tim Fennell, who heads the drug task force, on Tuesday obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s phone records.

Those records, documents said, indicated the phone was used to set up at least one suspected drug deal Sept. 1.

District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Guy on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with physical evidence.

Fennell said the other two occupants in the car were not charged.
