Tractor, truck pull hitting LernervilleBUFFALO TWP — Lernerville Speedway will host its first-ever USA-EAST sanctioned regional tractor and truck and semi truck pull at 2 p.m. Sunday.The highlight of the program will be the appearance of an open class for Super Stock and Pro Stock Tractors running in the USA-EAST “Smoker Series.” The Sunday afternoon session is expected to attract some of the top “smoker” pullers in the tri-state area.Other sanctioned divisions — Super Street GAS 4x4 trucks, 2.5 Diesel 4x4 trucks and the new work stock GAS 4x4 trucks — will be running for points in the 2016 USA-EAST point series.

SRU’s Martin, Scales net PSAC honorsSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s Marcus Martin has been named PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week and Drew Scales has been named the division’s Special Teams Player of the Week.Martin had 11 tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks in Saturday’s 31-28 win over New Haven, setting a Rock career record of 33 sacks.Scales had 195 all-purpose yards, including a 64-yard kick return and 27-yard punt return in that game.

Freeport’s Camerlo Rookie of WeekNEW WILMINGTON — Freeport resident and St. Joseph’s graduate Morgan Camerlo has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week.A runner for Westminster College, Camerlo placed third in Friday’s Fisher Invitational — her first collegiate event — by completing the course in 24 minutes, 24.81 seconds.

Parsons honored in cross countrySLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior distance runner Jeremy Parsons has been named PSAC Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week.Parsons won the Doug Watts Distance Gala last weekend at Edinboro, covering the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 31 seconds. He finished 37 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
