Calvin E. Fisher

Calvin E. Fisher, 88, of Portersville passed away Monday evening at his home.

Born Dec. 11, 1927, in New Castle, he was a son of Clyde W. and Margaret H. Pizor Fisher.

On June 24, 1950, he married Frances E. Barron Fisher, who preceded him in death Nov. 10, 2013.

After graduating from Eastbrook High School, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was the co-owner of the Miller and McKnight Coal Co. and the owner of Cal Fisher Jewelry.

Mr. Fisher served on the Laurel School Board. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars and tractors with his nephew, Thomas Fisher.

He is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Park and Mary Ann (Gregory) Tomo of Portersville; five grandchildren, Michele (Jamie) Schmid, Mindy (Jarrod) Fries, Kelly Tomo, Alan (Katie) Tomo and Leah (Michael) Francic; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by one brother, C. Willis Fisher; one infant sister, Dorothy Fisher; and one great-grandson, Jonah Gregory Francic.

FISHER — Visitation for Calvin E. Fisher, who died Monday, July 18, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, immediately following visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.cunninghamfh.com.
