Samuel Laird “Buss” Flinner

Samuel Laird “Buss” Flinner, 94, of Prospect passed away Friday at Creek Meadows.

Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Muddy Creek Township, he was the son of the late Samuel Austin and Ada Claire (Stewart) Flinner.

Buss proudly served our country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He served as a first lieutenant B-24 pilot in the Philippines.

He was a lifelong farmer and a faithful member of the St. John's Lutheran Stone Church in Harmony.

Buss owned and operated Flinner Farm Equipment, and eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He belonged to the Air Heritage Museum and the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association.

Buss will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, DuWayne (Joyce) Flinner of Prospect, Ronald (Cara) Flinner of Prospect, Debra Flinner of Pittsburgh and Kimberley (Patrick) Cunningham of Imperial; his five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma Jean Scheidemantle Flinner, who passed away March 9, 2014; his infant son, Dennis Lee; four brothers; and four sisters.

FLINNER — The family of Samuel Laird “Buss” Flinner, who died Friday, July 15, 2016, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 Tuesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Stone Church on Stone Church Road in Lancaster Township.Buss will be laid to rest beside his loving wife at St. John's Lutheran Stone Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in his honor to the St. John's Lutheran Stone Church, 181 Crab Run Road, Evans City, PA 16033.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
